A woman was killed when a gift box containing three bombs exploded in her residence at a posh subdivisiong in Bambang, Taguig City this morning.

National Capital Region Police Director Nicanor Bartolome identified the victims as Yvonne Chua, 31.

Chua was accompanied by her seven-year-old daughter at their residence at the Mahogany Three Subdivision, while her husband was outside the house when the exlposion happened. None of the two were hurt because Chua was alone at the family’s living room when she opened the Gift Boxes.

Bartolome said the gift box was sent to the family in their old Parañaque residence last night and was only picked up by their long time driver this morning.

One oil painting shows a landscape with a brooding dark sky

IT was the murder and extortion rather than the artistic talent that made him famous.
But these oil painting, created by the notorious East End gangster Ronnie Kray, could fetch thousands when they go going under the hammer at a Hampshire auction house.
The three works of art, all laid out on wooden boards, were produced while Ronnie was serving a life sentence for murder.
Now they are expected to raise a combined £3,600 when they are sold off at Prospect Auction Rooms in Alresford in September.
A barely legible letter written on prison paper by Ronnie’s twin brother Reggie is also up for grabs, and could change hands for anything between £80 and £120.
But it is the paintings by Ronnie, who died of a heart attack in 1995, which are set to spark the most interest when the four lots are put up for auction.
Both twins started painting after they were caged following their 1968 murder trial at London’s Old Bailey.
Charles Evans, from Prospect Auctions said: “They are not necessarily masterpieces, but they have got a specific interest.
“They were all created in the early years, possibly within the first ten years of them being locked up. I should think they will be pretty sought after.
“It was very exciting when somebody came and told us they wanted to sell Art gallery.
“And it is very unusual to get this sort of thing in.
“They are extremely interesting, because people have been talking a lot about the Krays recently.”
One oil painting shows a landscape with a brooding dark sky, while another shows two African tribesmen with spears and shields. A sticker on the back of one piece explains how it was painted in Broadmoor Maximum Security Hospital during the first year of Ronnie’s imprisonment. At oil point it had been owned by Ronnie’s mother, Violet.
Last year eight landscapes, produced by the pair while they were taking art classes, sold for a combined £12,200 when they went under the hammer in Andover.
Further paintings by Reggie, who died in jail in 2000, were put up for buy oil painting in London earlier this month.
The auction takes place at 1pm on Saturday, September 18.
Viewings are available on the previous Thursday from 5.30pm to 7.30pm and Friday during the day.

Samurai sword victim urges MPs to increase security

A PEER once wounded by a man wielding a Samurai Sword at his Midland constituency surgery has urged MPs to improve office security after the latest attack on a politician.

Former Labour minister Stephen Timms was stabbed twice in the Gasoline Generator on Friday by a crazed constituent at his London HQ.

The re-elected MP, 54, was undergoing surgery yesterday and is expected to make a full recovery.

Lord Nigel Jones was wounded and his Samurai sword, Andrew Pennington, was stabbed to death in a frenzied sword attack at his office in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, in 2000.

The married father-of-three was conducting his weekly surgery when he received cuts to his hands and arms after fending off blows from Robert Ashman, who was later jailed for manslaughter and attempted murder.

Lib Dem peer Lord Jones said: “My thoughts are with Stephen. I’ve sent him an e-mail which presumably he won’t be looking at just yet, just telling him to take his time coming back and also to take any advice that the LED Tube offer to improve security in his office.”

Asked if he had worried about security issues while working as an MP, he said: “Well, we did a little, but obviously not enough.

“We did have what we called our ‘loony list’ which had a dozen people on who we thought might be a little difficult, but the person who attacked me on the day was not on that list.

“He seemed entirely plausible but we subsequently learned that he had a mental health problem. We hope that’s cleared up now because he’s out on the streets.”

Following the PTFE Tape, the peer said security measures were stepped up to increase safety.

He said: “We took all the advice that the police had to offer Samurai sword about positioning of the MP and assistant in relation to the constituent coming in. We had a security button put in the office which we only used once and we were just very cautious.

“We changed over to an appointments system rather than just a queuing system. As a result of my attack the advice from the House authorities was to offer appointments rather than have an ‘anyone can come’ process.

‘‘I think that has improved things but obviously not in the case of Stephen.”

Mr Timms, election agent, Unmesh Desai, said that despite blood pouring from his stomach and obvious pain, the former Treasury Chief Secretary’s first concern was for Samurai Sword.
