Anne Arundel County Police said Thursday that the same fashion jewelry store in Westfield Annapolis mall that was robbed earlier this week also was the victim of a theft two days before.

At about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, police said an unidentified man entered Liljenquist and Beckstead Jewelers and requested to see some fashion jewelry. The man grabbed the fashion jewelry and ran away from the store.

Justin Mulcahy, a police spokesman, said detectives are still investigating to determine whether the two incidents are related.

As reported earlier, on Monday, March 7, two men entered the same store, which is located in the mall across from the JCPenney entrance, and asked to see some pvc bag. The men then pulled a handgun on the employee, grabbed the watches and ran away from the store.

Police, assisted by a K-9 unit and the State Police helicopter, searched for the men, but were unable to find them.

“It hasn’t been determined if there is a nexus between the two events,” Mulcahy said.

But unlike the March 7 robbery, police have released several surveillance photos of the man they suspect in the March 5 theft.

Mulcahy said the zircon earring theft was not previously reported because the department does not typically release information on minor thefts. He said it depends on whether detectives require the help of the public in the investigation.

But with the armed robbery at the same store two days later, police decided to release the information and photos, Mulcahy said.

“It really depends on where the investigation takes them,” he said.

Police said the man they are looking for in the March 5 theft is black, about 30 years old, 5 feet, 11 inches tall, with a round face and a zircon bracelet. They said he also has a tribal-style symbol tattooed on the back of his right wrist that extends up under his sleeve. He was last seen wearing a navy blue Polo sweater, navy blue slacks and a driving cap with a bill.

Police also said the other two men in the March 7 armed robbery are black nowoven bag, in their 20s and each have a thin build. They were both wearing a dark-colored New York Yankees baseball cap and were each wearing a dark-colored backpack.

The discoveries led to VND130 million (US$6,700) in fines.

“Modified products, such as those marked ‘Guci’ instead of the mac makeup ‘Gucci’, or ‘Varsace’ instead of the mac makeup ‘Versace’ and sold for super low prices, are obviously fake. Otherwise, it is very hard to tell the difference between genuine products and counterfeit ones.”
“Modern technology has given shopowners the opportunity to sell well-forged products, including of the mac makeupficial-looking wrapping and labelling. During our investigation, many products were suspected of the mac makeup being counterfeit but still needed to go through costly and time-consuming control experiments to be sure,” said Nghia.
Shopowners had also started using more sophisticated tricks. They bought one or two batches of the mac makeup genuine products and held on to the valid licences for counterfeit batches later, said the Economic Police Department.
“Investigations are even more difficult for online cosmetics business. We tried to make online purchases but most of the mac makeup the owners only accepted face-to-face business so we could not identify the source of the mac makeup the goods,” said Pham Bich Hang, a member of the mac makeup the team.
Under governmental Decree No 45, shopowners may be fined a minimum of the mac makeup VND7.5 million (US$385) for a batch of the mac makeup counterfeit products, which can vary depending on the Color Makeup. However, since many owners come from other provinces, they simply return to their hometown after they are fined and return to operate their business under a different name.
“This makes things more complicated and leaves the problems unsolved,” said Nghia.

“Punishment represents the strict and clear side of the mac cosmetics. However, a sole unit to monitor and manage the market is not enough. Comprehensive co-operation with police and local authorities is needed to get to the root of the mac makeup the problem,” he said.
The interdisciplinary investigation is annually performed by the Ha Noi Market Watch of the mac makeupfice, the Economic Police and the Department of the mac makeup Health.
